What is the difference between household insurance and home insurance?
Household insurance covers all movable property within your home. This includes furniture, electrical appliances, clothing and valuables. The home insurance in turn covers damage to the building itself and to outbuildings such as garages or tool sheds on the property.
What to do in case of damage?
Document the damage comprehensively with photos, descriptions, receipts and documents and pick up damaged items. Report the damage immediately to your insurance company and provide all the information that the insurance requires. With Allianz, a damage report is possible, for example, by telephone or online. Stick to the procedure of the insurance, otherwise coverage claims may be lost. The insurance assesses the damage and checks the coverage. After that, a settlement proposal will be provided as soon as possible.
What should be considered when moving
If you move, the premium for your household and/or home insurance must be adjusted. During the move, your items are insured against traffic accidents if you drive yourself. In order to have insurance coverage, contact us before you change your apartment and let us know your new address.
In contrast to home insurance, household insurance only covers the contents of your home. This makes it the right choice if you are a tenant (e.g. an apartment, a terraced house) or own a condominium. If damage occurs within your four walls, the household insurance applies. If damage to building components (e.g. water stain or mold on the wall due to a leaking roof) occurs, this is usually repaired by the insurance company of the owner of the building. Home insurance is the right choice if you own a house. It is always offered by Allianz in combination with household insurance, so that the contents of your house are also well protected.
